Easter Egg fun is not just for Easter...

You've heard of easter eggs, right? Not the colorful ones stuffed with goodies and hidden in the yard for kids to find on Easter Sunday, but the "hat tip" ones that are subtly embedded into a work of art...music, music videos, paintings, other videos, and literary works, for example, as a hat tip to someone or something that inspired it.

Since I love a good challenge and have been utterly inspired by earlier literary works (that became movie blockbusters), I decided to put Easter Eggs into The Sorcerer's Legacy series. Each book has one (or more) Easter Eggs in it. But you really have to know the sources that inspired me to recognize them. The sources that I tip my hat to in this series are Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars.

To give readers a chance, I decided to borrow an old Sesame Street trick. Remember the game on Sesame Street that went something like "Which one of these is not like the others? Which one of these doesn't belong?" Well, your first clue to finding an Easter Egg in these books is to look for something in the chapter art that doesn't belong. It may be obvious or it may be subtle, but if you are deep into the source of it, you will recognize it.

Once you find the chapter art that "doesn't belong," you'll know that an Easter Egg is in that chapter—a quote from the source that the image is from. It can be Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars. Consider yourself a pro on these fantastically amazing literary and movie sagas when you find one! But don't sweat it if you don't. It's all for fun. Just keep reading and enjoy the adventure...
