The Yellow Brick Road is real
What does The Wizard of Oz teach us about ourselves and our lives? What is the real story hidden within Dorothy's adventure?

Most people know the story of The Wizard of Oz. The original came out in 1939 and remains a favorite classic. What makes it so powerful?
There is a deep symbology held within Dorothy's adventure that reflects the spiritual journey. The details in her experience show us obstacles we might anticipate on our own yellow brick road to awakening, and what it takes to overcome them. We can't escape the obstacles; they arise for potent reasons. Yet we can learn to recognize them and how to successfully navigate our way through them.
Consider that Dorothy represents our basic human selves. Her adventure begins when she runs away to protect her beloved dog Toto from a wicked neighbor who wants to get rid of him. Along the way, Dorothy sends out a prayer to the Universe seeking something greater in her life that she believes is "somewhere over the rainbow." And her journey begins.
Soon into the adventure, Dorothy's safety is challenged and her entire life changes. She and Toto find themselves in an unfamiliar place, alone and frightened. Faced with the reality that there is more happening than meets the eye, Dorothy must come present with what unfolds before her. As things get a little weird, fear and resistance rise and she must find a way to continue. Feeling stuck and hopeless, she finds strength in places she never saw or expected. In the end with everything on the line, she faces the unfaceable and returns home with a refreshed sense of life.
But this is just the story. The deeper wisdom lies in the details. My book, The Six Sacred Gifts unpacks these details to bring ease to the journey. Once unpacked, everything opens up in a way that makes even the hardest of challenges make sense. And it's pretty cool.
