America is in crisis, not necessarily because of who is president but because we are lost in harmful societal illusions.

The US is in crisis. Our civilization is hemorrhaging under extreme conditions of spiritual misalignment, self-importance and greed. Our daily actions and inactions are destroying our country and our world, yet many people are too embedded in the false safety and comfort of their echo chamber to see it.
We don't like to challenge the systems we believe in or the narratives we embrace. Even in the face of counter information, few find the willingness or courage to turn away from the people we love and communities we support. Doing so shakes our foundations and can leave us feeling rejected and isolated.
None of us want that...and there is a better path forward.
What we crave is safety and security, love and belonging, purpose and power, freedom and fun. How we access these things matters. And what we do once we have them determines our character.
It's easy to argue that the character of the world is rapidly corrupting when entitlement replaces equanimity, arrogance swallows amiability, privilege hijacks peace, and contempt overrides civility. Comfort and convenience are all too often placed above care and concern.
Life has become a game of self-serving, self-validating illusion. How comfortable we are and how well others view us have become more important than what is actually happening in the world around us. Millions of people are more invested in the number of "Likes" and "Comments" a post gets, for instance, than they are in the thousands of species their actions are helping to drive into extinction, or the thousands of humans living in suffering due to war, displacement, starvation, lack of water, removal of sovereignty, etc..
We don't like looking at the painful reality we create as a species because it's painful to do so. We don't like feeling responsible for the pain and destruction on Earth. We don't like looking because it's uncomfortable, unsettling and feels overwhelming. As its creator, it's also our responsibility to look, to see and to course-correct our ship.
Humanity has the solutions and resources we need to remove the suffering and pain we create in the world...in Life on Earth.
These times demand a more inclusive definition of cost. Cost is more than money, energy or time. It's more than success or failure, and it's more than status or reputation. The true and greatest cost of prioritizing human comfort and convenience over care and concern for life as a whole on Planet Earth is the extinction of life on Planet Earth, including our own. One can easily argue that this is our greatest transgression of all.
Humans need a massive course-correction. We need to reign in our error thinking and curb our insatiable egos. We need to get real.
