"Masks Off" Everyone!

Humans are complex living creatures with miraculous physical bodies involving mystical origins and wildly intelligent mechanics the likes of which scientists still can't fully explain. And perhaps never will. In this way, the biggest canopy of our lives remains a mystery.

Oddly enough, we have clues embedded in prophecies, ancient texts, intuitive insights and spiritual wisdom that point us to, well, something, even if we disagree as to what that something is. Through practices designed to deepen us into our inner universe, we discover an inescapable truth: that humans are intimately interconnected with and interdependent on each other and the whole of Life.

It matters not what religious or spiritual community we align with. It matters not where we are born or raised. It matters not what languages we speak or foods we eat or clothes we wear. And it matters not what color our skin is. Because beyond the diverse characteristics we carry as individuals resides the innate perfection of Creation itself.

Creation—the natural world we live in—functions in an ongoing harmonious rhythm. Humans are the only creatures that believe we can ignore that rhythm or that we exist outside that rhythm. Humans are also the only creatures who claim the fantasy of dominion rather than dependence.

Humanity is responsible. Our human immaturity is the seed of our suffering. Our human ego-mind, insecurities and arrogance are the carriers of narcissism, entitlement and greed. And our human error-thinking gives rise to the division, injustice and harm we bear to each other and upon this sacred Earth.

Our Creator is not responsible for these things; humans are. It's up to us to learn, grow in wisdom, heal our errors and correct our arrogance to bring this Life to its fullest potential. It's up to humans, not to some super hero or super power. Just us humans. We are the change-makers in this reality.

In all our glorious diversity and mystery, I'm confident we can find our way there but we must choose to or we never will. We must unmask, expose, and acknowledge the perpetrators within our own character and in the character of others. Then we can begin to transform them within our relationships, communities, and the global humanity.

This path calls for curiosity, courage and compassion while it demands exposure, vulnerability and faith. Humans have the capacity to mature and evolve spiritually. But we must choose to face our darkness and walk this path together. Since we are inescapably interconnected, we succeed or fail as one, and we thrive or suffer as one. The whole ship floats or the whole ship sinks and either way we humans are responsible.
